Upon visiting a Norman Rockwell Exhibition, Artist Ben Saturen encountered an easel prop setup similar to Rockwell's famous self-portrait awaiting for anyone to be seated. Encouraged by his accompanying guests Ben reluctantly sat down for his personal portrayal.

Unfortunately the original painting was destroyed in 2018 California's 'Camp Fire'. The Camp Fire was the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California's history.

Oil painter, printmaker, muralist, faux finish artist and educator, BEN SATUREN, was inspired to portray ocean life while snorkeling in the Red Sea where he observed subjects rarely portrayed on canvas.
